o I promised Mars I would join NaNoWriMo with her ... and it starts in November.
Yeah, it's Oct. 31.
I DID sign up. My username is ArtemisRex. Go figure, huh? In an effort to start this damn novel, I stole a meme from her. It's under the cut, if you're interested.
In other Artemis-related news, my sister had her baby. I have pictures, which I may torture you with some time, especially a rather awesome one of her, me and Aiden, like two minutes after he was born.
Tonight is Trick or Treat, and I'm taking three squallers. I'm going to be a vampire, only because all I gotta do is pop some fake teeth in.
Name: Sissy
Role In Novel: Rrotagonist; Narrator
Physical Description: 5'8", on the heavy side, short dark bobbed hair, wears a lot of dark suits and suit jackets to try to diguise her weight. She's very self-conscious of being "queen-sized" and is very careful with her clothes, makeup and jewelry because of it.
Birthdate: Oct. 31
Astrological Sign: Dunno. Libra? She's a people pleaser, anyway.
Place of birth: Fairhaven
Spouse/Partner/Significant Other: Darling, her husband.
Children: Twin sons, Spencer and Stuart
Mother: lives in a "dowager" apartment over Sissy's garage. There's a lot of hard feelings between them, but Sissy feels obligated to care for her because she's her mother.
Father: died of a heart attack several years ago; a steelworker and very emotionally closed off.
Siblings: Her twin sister, Honey.
Maternal Grandparents: Dead.
Other Maternal Relations: Five aunts, each one crazier than the last. Sissy's Mother is the youngest.
Paternal Grandparents: Dead.
Other Paternal Relations: None.
Occupation: A real estate agent.
Residence: In Winter Hill, a very desirable bedroom community outside of Fairhaven. She is very insecure, so having a nice house in a nice neighborhood is very important to her.
Positive aspects of personality: She is very good at her job, devoted to her husband and children and spends a lot of time working for non-profit organizations. She is organized, punctual, cheerful and a good talker.
Negative aspects of personality: She wants to have the perfect family and the perfect life and she overschedules and overspends in an attempt to obtain it. She wants her parents' approval, but she'll likely never have it.
Hobbies/Collects: She likes to collect collectibles, but they sit in the breakfront and get dusted. She likes to have them to have them. She loves going shopping, but hates clothes shopping. She also enjoys lunching, even though it doesn't help her weight.
Personal History/Childhood: She was always "one of the twins," and she and Honey were very, very close and shared everything. They were made much of and she still looks back at this part of her life as an ideal.
Personal History/Adolescence: Honey became a swan, and Sissy was her ugly duckling sister. Honey excelled at sports and school, and Sissy did okay, but never as well. Honey was popular, and Sissy was her best friend, but Sissy knew people were just friends with her because she was Honey's sister.
Personal History/Adulthood: She went to college away from home, and it was the first time she was ever away from Honey. She started making friends on her own, met her future husband -- her first and only boyfriend -- and starting finding her own way.
Meanwhile, Honey was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, and her life started spiralling out of control, including suicide attempts, a lot of drinking and promiscity. All of a sudden, Sissy was the good daughter. She is torn between feeling that she deserves what she has and distress over her sister's condition.
Relationship to/with other characters:
Character: Honey
Relationship: Twins
Notes: Honey was always the golden twin and Sissy the stable one. When Honey fell off of her pedestal, Sissy was secretly gleeful. On the other hand, she wants to help her sister and she gets angry at her sister's bad choices in life, despite knowning many of them are influenced by her mental disability.
Character: Darling
Relationship: Husband/wife
Notes: He is her rock, her source of strength. He loves her unconditionally and supports her in everything. She sometimes feels guilty because she feels she might be taking advantage of his good nature.
Character: Mother
Relationship: Mother/Daughter
Notes: Sissy is still resentful that Mother lavished so much affection and attention on Honey when they were younger. Mother also has mental problems and is very dependant on her anti-anxiety medications. She is a source of frustration to Sissy and loves drama. Sissy takes care of her out of obligation.
